Job Title: Area Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join the FedEx team as an Area Manager in Olive Branch, MS. As a champion for FedEx's Safety Above All Culture, you will oversee the day-to-day and long-term operations and staff within a defined area(s) of a FedEx facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a champion for FedEx's Safety Above All Culture and support all related initiatives.
  • Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity.
  • Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the facility.
  • Responsible for managing and assigning employees (primarily Operations Managers) to ensure the safe and efficient sortation of packages through the facility, minimizing operational cost and maximizing operational quality, including the movement, tracking and administration of trailers.
  • Determine the work area's strategic goals and ensure quality, service, cost and productivity goals are achieved.
  • Plan the work area strategy based on projected volume, head count, and other special circumstances and factors.
  • Oversee daily visual inspections of loads to ensure proper quality for customers and/or vendors.
  • Direct and guide Operations Managers to ensure common understanding of operational updates and daily goals for the work area.
  • Ensure compliance with all FedEx policies/procedures and applicable governmental regulations.
  • Participate in the development of and responsible for administering company safety strategies and programs.
  • Foster a safety-conscious culture by serving as an advocate for safety compliance and safety initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Eighteen (18) months experience as an Ops Manager at FedEx required, OR Two (2) years required previous management experience, operational leadership, military leadership, or project/team leader experience; OR A combination of one (1) year as an Ops Manager at FedEx and (1) year previous management, operational leadership, project or team leader or military experience.
