About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Investment Partner to join our team at M12, Microsoft's corporate venture capital fund. As an Investment Partner, you will play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, and closing deals, as well as working closely with our portfolio companies and Microsoft internal stakeholders to provide strategic guidance and value-added services.

Responsibilities
  • Define Strategy for Investment Thesis and Make Investments
    • Develop and execute investment strategies for key thesis areas, leveraging market research and analysis to identify opportunities.
    • Drive the completion of 2-3 investments per calendar year, with a focus on Series A and B deals.
  • Use Industry Connections and Generate Deal Flow
    • Nurture executive relationships within startup and venture ecosystems to drive deal sourcing and generate high-volume sourcing opportunities.
    • Proactively identify, evaluate, and engage with companies with potential for investment to generate top-tier deals.
  • Deal Diligence
    • Lead and conduct rigorous diligence, including reviewing financial models, building exit analyses, and interviewing customers, founders, and executive management.
    • Create investment deal memos based on extensive research analysis.
  • Support Portfolio Companies and Collaborate with Microsoft Colleagues
    • Contribute to portfolio companies' growth by assisting in executive recruitment, fundraising, and guiding the company through the initial building phase.
    • Serve as a board observer or director on 3+ M12 portfolio companies.
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Investment Partner with a strong background in venture capital, investment banking, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of market trends, technical and market analysis, and a proven track record of success in deal sourcing, diligence, and investment execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Architecture, or related field, with 6+ years of experience in strategic consulting, investment banking, venture capital, building technology, product management, and/or enterprise entrepreneurial ventures.
  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, with 4+ years of experience in strategic consulting, investment banking, venture capital, building technology, product management, and/or enterprise entrepreneurial ventures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Architecture, or related field, with 8+ years of experience in strategic consulting, investment banking, venture capital, building technology, product management, and/or enterprise entrepreneurial ventures.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, with 6+ years of experience in strategic consulting, investment banking, venture capital, building technology, product management, and/or enterprise entrepreneurial ventures.

Additional Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience on a deal team, including sourcing and leading your own investment(s).
  • Experience as a Board Director or Observer at a technology startup.
