Columbia University seeks an experienced Hybrid Payroll Schedule Manager to manage its payroll operations. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely payment of compensation exceeding $3.5 billion to over 34,000 employees. Your duties will include ensuring accuracy and timeliness for over 100 semi-monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly payroll runs, proper withholding and remittance of all withholdings, including federal, state, and local taxes, and garnishments.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage payroll operations and accounting for over 34,000 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resource Processing Center (HRPC) and Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) on system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Support various internal and external audits and ensure timely implementation of proposed recommendations.
  • Establish operational protocol and analyze/recommend payroll system setups required for new benefits and/or new collective bargaining agreements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7-9 years' related experience in payroll accounting and operations.
  • Advanced degree or other professional certification (CPA).
  • 8+ years' related experience in payroll accounting and operations.
  • At least five years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale payroll operations.

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is between $155,000 and $170,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
