Job Summary

The Payroll Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely payment of compensation exceeding $3.5B to over 34,000 employees at Columbia University. This role requires a strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements.

In this critical position, you will lead and develop a team of eight team members responsible for payroll operations and payroll accounting functions. You will also be responsible for leading and participating in payroll system enhancements and upgrades.

This role involves:

  • Overseeing payroll operations and accounting for over 34,000 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax reporting and filings.
  • Collaborating with the Human Resource Processing Center (HRPC) and Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) on system enhancements and upgrades.

We offer an estimated salary range of $155,000-$170,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
