Job Summary:

As a Medical Unit Coordinator at Lancaster General, you will play a vital role in maintaining the organization and efficiency of our Emergency Department. This part-time position requires a 0.6 FTE commitment, with 24 hours worked per week on night shifts. You will be responsible for monitoring all related activity at the nurse's station and performing multiple clerical duties to ensure complete and correct records, charts, and reports. Additionally, you will provide receptionist support within assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transcribe orders from patient charts onto medication sheets and complete related paperwork and telephone notifications.
• Organize and maintain patient records by filing reports, calling for old records, and ensuring completeness.
• Coordinate communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families through the use of telephone and intercom systems.
• Complete documentation related to unit activity, such as current census, patient admissions, discharges, transfers, surgeries, and Nursing Station Activity Sheet.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• One year of computer experience.
• Preferred qualifications include one year of secretarial experience and one year of experience with medical terminology.
