Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Unit Coordinator to join our team at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our nursing station and providing exceptional support to our patients, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families through effective use of telephone and intercom systems
  • Complete documentation related to unit activity, including current census, patient admissions, discharges, transfers, surgeries, and Nursing Station Activity Sheet
  • Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and materials by assessing available space and ordering daily and weekly supplies
  • Participate in the orientation and act as a preceptor for other Unit Clerks under the direction of the Unit Clerk instructor, Head Nurse, or Charge Nurse
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • One (1) year of computer experience
  • Preferred qualifications include one (1) year of secretarial experience and one (1) year of experience with medical terminology
