Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior State Archeologist to join our team at the Department of Parks & Recreation. As a key member of our Cultural Resource Program, you will be responsible for supervising staff, reviewing federal and state projects, and performing complex work in cultural resources management and archaeological research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff reviewing federal and state projects
  • Perform complex work in cultural resources management and archaeological research
  • Apply scientific methods and principles to identify, research, and solve problems related to cultural resources management
  • Oversee and direct staff who review and comment on or prepare documents related to historic properties identification, evaluation, and treatment
  • Assist in developing policies, guidelines, and standards for cultural resources management
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of scientific methods and principles in cultural resources management
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply knowledge of cultural resources management laws and regulations
