The Associate State Archaeologist - Facilities and Development position is a key role in the Department of Parks & Recreation, responsible for managing and preserving cultural resources within the Northern Service Center area. This position will work under the general direction of the Senior State Archeologist and will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for various departmental actions and projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct archaeological investigations and cultural resource management activities
- Direct and coordinate archaeological projects, including budget preparation and submission
- Provide research data and management recommendations to support departmental decisions
- Prepare technical reports and presentations
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals
- Valid California Class C Driver's license
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Experience with cultural resource management and archaeological investigations
This position requires a combination of office and field work, with occasional overnight travel for extended periods. The position is designated as telework eligible and remote-centered.
