As a Mainframe Infrastructure Specialist, you will operate within PNC's Mainframe Software division.

Qualifications:
Previous experience in a Mainframe setting is essential.

Proficient in Mainframe JCL, SAS, IBM WLM REXX, and IBM Utilities. Familiarity with IBM zSystems, Dell/EMC Storage, and replication software, as well as IBM Virtual Tape hardware, is preferred.

Abilities:
Ability to work autonomously, effectively organize, prioritize, and execute tasks/responsibilities to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey concepts, plans, and proposals in a business-friendly and user-friendly manner.

Highly self-motivated and directed, requiring minimal supervision, with a keen attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities:
Manage Configuration and Maintenance for Mainframe zSystem Hardware.

Install, configure, modify, and maintain Capacity, Performance, and Availability Software.

Maintain a comprehensive set of Data Files and Reporting Systems for all mainframe workloads.

Provide Technical Support for Mainframe Capacity, Performance, and Availability.

May oversee third-party vendor interactions, managing hardware and configuration management software that delivers solutions for:

• IBM zSeries Computers

• IBM Coupling Facilities

• IBM Hardware Master Consoles

Also requires a working knowledge of Storage Subsystems, Networks, and Switches.

Manage Capacity and Performance Management Software & Processes to Predict or Track Utilization.

Own the Mainframe zSeries hardware configurations and enhance them to reduce operational time, add functionality, or improve efficiency.

Provide Mainframe Optimization products and processes in collaboration with Business Application Teams.

Configure IBM Workload Manager for Performance Management.

Utilize BMC Tools for Monitoring and Data Optimization.

Collect Detailed Measurement Data from System Level input including IBM SMF, RMF, CMF, and other product files.

Implement Data Reduction using CA-MICS and Merrill MXG software in SAS Language and other vendor utilities.

Own Dashboards & detailed reporting for Daily, Weekly, and Monthly activities.

Job Description

Oversee the requirements for planning, organizing, and executing enterprise-wide technology infrastructure and configuration management functions.

Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of significant configuration changes from acquisition to termination.

Supervise the effective implementation and utilization of the configuration management process, methodology, tools, procedures, and audit activities.

Develop and publish metrics to assess and quantify configuration success; ensure that configuration practices comply with established standards.


Ensure the accuracy and validity of the configuration database for content on assets, major infrastructure and platform components, system documentation, and service components.

Configuration Management, ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), IT Quality Assurance, Performance Measurement and Tuning, Software Change Request Management, Software Product Installation and Support, System and Technology Integration, Systems Software Infrastructure.

Work Experience


Roles at this level typically require a university/college degree, with 3+ years of relevant/direct industry experience.

Certifications are often desired.

In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
