Job Overview
Steel Building Specialists, Inc. is looking for a proficient Construction Financial Analyst to enhance our finance department and support the fiscal oversight of our construction initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in construction finance, budget management, and financial reporting within the construction sector.

The Construction Financial Analyst will be instrumental in ensuring precise financial documentation, expense monitoring, and adherence to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management:
Monitor and evaluate costs related to construction projects.

Oversee project budgets, expenditures, and discrepancies.

Collaborate with project leaders to guarantee accurate financial reporting for projects.

Assist in month-end closing activities as needed, including maintaining accuracy in committed costs and managing outstanding items, such as unbilled invoices.

Revenue Management:
Prepare and issue precise and timely project invoices.

Ensure that billing corresponds with project agreements and milestones.

Gather necessary supporting documentation.

Work with project leaders to resolve any billing issues.

Address billing errors as necessary to maintain invoice accuracy.

Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the appropriate manager or project leader as needed.

Expenditure Management:
Oversee the complete accounts payable process, including invoice processing and payment applications, verifying contract values and retention calculations, coding, posting, and disbursing payments.

Reconcile accounts with vendors and subcontractors.

Partner with project leaders and subcontractors to resolve payment-related issues.

Financial Reporting:
Generate financial statements related to construction projects.

Provide management with insights into the financial performance of projects.

Deliver requested reports to management as necessary.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations.

Technical Skills:
Strong technical capabilities are essential.

Develop and maintain workflows to ensure timely processing of payable invoices in Timberscan.

Monitor multiple email accounts.

Ensure timely updates in ERP and Timberscan.

Guarantee accurate data synchronization between Procore and ERP.

Additional Responsibilities:
Engage in other ad hoc projects, reporting, and billing tasks as required, including process enhancements and documentation of internal standard operating procedures.

Assist in preparing Work in Progress (WIP) schedules for ongoing construction projects.

Qualifications:
Demonstrated integrity and a strong work ethic are essential.

A bachelor's degree is preferred.

3-5 years of experience in construction finance or a related field.

Prior experience in architecture and engineering/construction AIA billing, job costing, and/or service provider accounting is necessary.

Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, and project documentation is required.

Proficient in construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage 100 Contractor, Timberscan, Textura) and Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Able to independently seek information and resolve issues.

Comfortable working autonomously while being part of a team.

Thorough understanding of job costing, balance sheet, and income statement accounts.
