About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Behavioral Support Specialist. In this role, you will work closely with special education teachers and students to provide behavioral support and develop strategies to promote academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with special education teachers to monitor classroom behavior and support students in achieving their academic goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized behavioral plans to help students develop appropriate behaviors and conflict resolution skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of student behavior and collect data to inform program effectiveness.
  • Teach academic lessons and provide one-on-one support to students as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support staff and students during safety-related incidents.
  • Attend daily multidisciplinary team meetings and weekly staff meetings to share observations and outcomes.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with behaviorally disordered or emotionally disturbed children and adolescents.
  • Certifications in CPR, first aid, and CPI completion.
  • A valid driver's license and automobile insurance that meets Rhode Island minimum standards.
