Developmental Disability Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Developmental Disability Support Specialist to join our team at Community Residences.
Salary$36,000 - $40,000 per year, depending on experience.
Job DescriptionThis role involves providing support and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities in Day Program facilities. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with clients, their families, and support networks to identify opportunities for growth and development.
- Conducting assessments to understand individual strengths and interests.
- Developing personalized plans to achieve goals and promote participation in community activities.
- Working closely with Day Support staff to match individuals with resources and opportunities that align with their interests and preferences.
- Create a supportive learning environment, developing strategies to help individuals cope with daily challenges and promote independent performance.
- Implementing Individual Plans of Care and monitoring progress.
- Coordinating effective supports and reporting medical, physical, or behavioral changes as necessary.
- Providing training and mentorship to new and existing employees.
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to organizational policies.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, or an associate degree and one year of experience in the Human Services field.
- Valid RI driver's license and good driving record.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise and guide other staff members.
- Knowledge of current issues in the field of developmental disabilities.
