Job Overview

The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) is seeking candidates for the position of Research Scientist Associate. Ideal candidates will have a keen interest in interdisciplinary transportation research, engaging with a diverse array of topics. The Center conducts investigations across multiple domains for various transportation agencies at local, state, and federal levels. Key research areas include:

  • Highway design
  • Project management
  • Pavement design and maintenance
  • Infrastructure assessment and roadway forensic analysis
  • Construction management
  • Highway and infrastructure safety
  • Structural engineering and preservation
  • Intelligent transportation systems
  • Economic, financial, and policy dimensions of transportation
  • Traffic operations
  • Environmental analysis

Responsibilities

  • Conducting literature reviews and summarizing findings
  • Leading data collection and analysis efforts
  • Assisting senior research personnel in developing innovative solutions and technologies aligned with KTC's mission
  • Preparing technical reports and grant applications
  • Presenting research outcomes to governmental bodies, industry stakeholders, and at professional conferences

This role also involves maintaining and managing project-related data. Engagement in professional development activities, such as attending relevant meetings or conferences, is expected. The Research Scientist Associate will play a vital role in fostering enduring partnerships with clients, transportation organizations, and agencies.
