Job Summary

The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) is seeking candidates for the position of Research Scientist Associate. Ideal candidates should possess a keen interest in interdisciplinary transportation research and be willing to engage in a diverse array of topics. The Center conducts research across various domains for local, state, and federal transportation agencies. Key research areas include:
  • Highway design
  • Project management
  • Pavement design and maintenance
  • Infrastructure assessment and roadway forensic analysis
  • Construction management
  • Highway and infrastructure safety
  • Structural engineering and preservation
  • Intelligent transportation systems
  • Economic, financial, and policy dimensions of transportation
  • Traffic operations
  • Environmental analysis

The Research Scientist Associate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting literature reviews and summaries
  • Leading data collection and analysis
  • Assisting senior research personnel in developing innovative solutions and technologies to further KTC's mission
  • Preparing technical reports and grant proposals
  • Presenting research findings to government agencies, industry partners, and at professional conferences

This position also involves maintaining and overseeing project-related data and participating in professional development activities, such as attending relevant meetings or conferences. The Research Scientist Associate is expected to foster enduring partnerships with clients, transportation organizations, and agencies. Recent graduates are encouraged to consider this opportunity.

Driver's License

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
