Job Overview
AECOM is looking for an Environmental Specialist II to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and participate in both fieldwork and office-related tasks.
- Support initiatives involving contaminated materials, soil and groundwater remediation, and adherence to environmental regulations.
- Conduct field activities, including sample collection, to facilitate data acquisition and management.
- Implement standard scientific practices that require the application of established techniques and methodologies.
- Identify issues when utilizing standardized procedures based on sample conditions and equipment challenges.
- Assist in specific project phases under the guidance of senior scientists.
- Recommend suitable analytical methods and techniques.
- Provide expert advice and consulting services within the realm of scientific expertise.
- Analyze data, draw conclusions, and make informed recommendations.
- Interpret and document data, perform analyses, and compare results with relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Keep management informed about project and assignment progress.
- Support junior team members and coordinate the activities of a small group.
- Engage in client discussions to clarify project requirements and present findings.
- Identify opportunities for enhancing existing procedures and processes to improve efficiency and quality.
- Conduct technical quality assessments, ensuring documentation aligns with company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with health and safety teams and complete necessary safety documentation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Environmental Sciences or Environmental Engineering.
- Two years of relevant experience in the field or a related area, particularly in health and safety compliance.
- Experience in supporting projects related to contaminated materials, soil and groundwater remediation, and environmental compliance.
- Fieldwork experience, including sample collection and data management.
- Ability to provide regular updates on project status to management.
- Experience in client engagement and project requirement discussions.
- Conducting technical quality reviews and maintaining project documentation in accordance with policies.
