At Optum, we're dedicated to delivering exceptional care and services to our patients. As a Patient Access Representative, you'll play a vital role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with patients and families to collect demographic and insurance information, ensuring accurate and timely registration.
  • Utilize computer systems to enter and verify patient data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Process referrals, pre-certifications, and pre-authorizations according to insurance plan requirements.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits, creating price estimates and reverifications as needed.
  • Collect patient co-pays and discuss out-of-pocket financial obligations with patients.
  • Identify and collect outstanding balances from previous visits.
  • Collaborate with referring provider offices to confirm and schedule appointments.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and concerns in a compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Analyze patient data reports and follow up on issues and inconsistencies.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and rotating weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in scheduling and authorizations.
  • Healthcare experience and clinical knowledge.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and sustain working relationships.

Physical and Work Environment:

  • Standing for long periods of time while using a workstation and phone/headset.
