Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Multimedia Systems Engineer is tasked with the design, installation, and upkeep of Audio-Visual/Multimedia (AV/MM) systems. This role also encompasses the management of configuration for both developmental and operational AV/MM systems.

  • Develop operational manuals.
  • Educate clients on the effective use of AV/MM systems.
  • Offer support for the deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of AV/MM systems.
  • Provide Tier 1 support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Oversee daily operations and configuration of AV/MM systems.
  • Assist users in navigating and utilizing AV/MM systems.
  • Design diverse AV/MM solutions, including secure VTC/PC systems, enterprise-level VTC and collaboration setups, conference rooms, classrooms, command centers, auditoriums, digital signage, and streaming services.
  • Act as the custodian of equipment and manage inventory and asset accountability.
  • Document processes and procedures for hardware and software configuration management.
  • Coordinate hardware installations across various locations.
  • Maintain and enhance the environment for hardware and software product development, staging, testing, and integration.
  • Implement and define hardware and software configuration management processes, including creating product build scripts and integrating them with the overall build process.
  • Conduct analyses on AV/MM systems to ensure designs are cost-effective, integrable, and reliable.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to synchronize interrelated designs and ensure project completion.
  • Design, document, and develop code for programmable devices.
  • Analyze complex hardware systems, including design, architecture, and network issues.
  • Conduct equipment testing.
  • Provide both preventative and remedial hardware maintenance support.
  • Deploy, install, and implement AV/MM systems in various locations.
  • Conduct site assessments.
  • Optimize control system interfaces for automation and enhanced user experience.
  • Configure control systems, communication devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Prepare cost proposals for project managers.
  • Perform telecommunication installations and maintenance for serial copper data paths, interpreting relevant documentation.

Qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an AV/MM Engineer, demonstrating proficiency in at least seven (7) of the following skill sets within the last seven (7) years:

  • Analog, SDI, and HD SDI signal processing and conversion
  • Digital video filtering and scalable video coding
  • Compression and decompression techniques
  • Encoding and decoding of television standards (e.g., ATSC, QAM, NTSC, PAL)
  • Signal theory and analysis
  • Audio processing and sound reinforcement
  • Screen size and projection distance considerations
  • AES/EBU or AES3 digital audio standards
  • Cable termination (Fiber, copper, audio, etc.)
  • Setup and maintenance of HD/SD broadcast equipment
  • Integration of audio and video teleconferencing systems
  • Setup of digital video effects systems
  • Operation and setup of production switchers
  • Operation and maintenance of audio mixers
  • Integration of wired/wireless microphone systems
  • Design and installation of audio support systems
  • Custom fabrication of parts and cables
  • Installation of low voltage wiring and cable; soldering and termination of connectors

A Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited institution is required. Alternatively, four (4) years of additional AV/MM experience in the areas mentioned above may substitute for a Bachelor's degree, totaling nine (9) years of experience.

Two (2) years of experience with VidCAD or other CAD software within the last five (5) years is preferred.

Certification as a Technology Specialist (CTS) and/or CTS-Installation and/or CTS-Design training certification is advantageous.

A minimum of seven (7) years of experience with Crestron programming within the last ten (10) years is required.
