Laboratory Technician

Crystal Creamery Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Dairy Manufacturing facility.
The Laboratory Technician will work under general supervision to execute routine laboratory and administrative tasks, assist fellow lab personnel with professionalism and respect, maintain precise and clear records, and effectively prioritize work assignments. Additionally, this role involves reviewing work for quality and thoroughness.
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the safe operation of testing equipment that may involve chemical and temperature risks, accurately identifying and replenishing lab supplies to ensure a current inventory, preparing samples, media, and solutions for analysis, and demonstrating a willingness to undertake other related tasks and projects as assigned.
Work Schedule: Night Shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments, including Foss FTIR, Brix, pH meter, EQA, CEM, scales, and pipettes.
- Conduct organoleptic evaluations on required product samples, including fresh and aged products.
- Perform accurate physiochemical and microbiological preparations, testing, counting, and examinations of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Authorize the release of in-process and finished products, including 'first off' testing, while ensuring compliance with specified standards.
- Document and input data, generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and other reports promptly and accurately.
- Maintain organized records of production, raw materials, testing, and quality control.
- Identify and take action to mitigate food safety and quality issues.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and sanitation inspections in line with filler release protocols.
- Perform environmental swabbing, line checks, allergen testing, special projects, and other assigned duties.
- Implement proper aseptic techniques for sample collection, transport, storage, testing, and disposal.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess knowledge of US customary units and the metric system, including weights and measures.
Position Requirements:
· Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field, or 2 years of relevant experience.
