Crystal Creamery Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Dairy Manufacturing Facility.

The Laboratory Technician will operate under general supervision to execute routine laboratory and administrative tasks, collaborate with fellow lab personnel in a professional manner, maintain accurate and clear records, and effectively prioritize work assignments. Additionally, this role involves reviewing work for quality assurance and completeness.

The Technician will safely manage testing equipment that may involve chemical and temperature risks, accurately identify and replenish lab supplies to ensure an updated inventory, prepare samples, media, and solutions for analysis, and willingly undertake additional related responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Work Schedule: Night Shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments including Foss FTIR, Brix, pH meter, EQA, CEM, scales, and pipettes.
  • Conduct organoleptic evaluations on required product samples, including fresh and at-code items.
  • Perform precise physiochemical and microbiological preparations, testing, counting, and examinations of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Authorize the release of in-process and finished products, including 'first off' testing, while ensuring compliance with specified standards.
  • Document and input data, generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and other reports accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain organized records of production, raw materials, testing, and quality control.
  • Identify and take necessary actions to mitigate food safety and quality concerns.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and sanitation inspections in accordance with filler release protocols.
  • Perform environmental swabbing, line checks, allergen testing, special projects, and other assigned duties.
  • Implement proper aseptic techniques for sample collection, transport, storage, testing, and disposal.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess knowledge of US customary units and the metric system, including weights and measures.

Position Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field, or two years of relevant experience.
