The Laboratory Technician will operate under general supervision to carry out routine laboratory and administrative tasks. This role requires collaboration with fellow lab personnel in a professional and respectful manner, ensuring meticulous and clear record-keeping. The ability to effectively prioritize work assignments is essential, along with a commitment to reviewing tasks for quality and thoroughness.

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the safe operation of testing apparatus that may involve chemical and temperature risks. Responsibilities include accurately identifying and replenishing lab supplies to maintain an updated inventory, preparing samples, media, and solutions for analysis, and demonstrating a willingness to undertake additional related tasks and projects as assigned.

Work Schedule: Night Shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments, including Foss FTIR, Brix, pH meter, EQA, CEM, scales, and pipettes.
  • Conduct organoleptic evaluations on required product samples, including fresh and at-code items.
  • Perform precise physiochemical and microbiological preparations, testing, counting, and examinations of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Authorize the release of in-process and finished products, including initial testing, while confirming compliance with specified standards.
  • Document and input data, generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and other reports promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain organized records of production, raw materials, testing, and quality control.
  • Identify and take action to mitigate food safety and quality concerns.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and sanitation inspections in accordance with filler release protocols.
  • Execute environmental swabbing, line checks, allergen testing, special projects, and any other assigned duties.
  • Apply proper aseptic techniques for sample collection, transport, storage, testing, and disposal.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess knowledge of US customary units and the metric system, including weights and measures.

Position Requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field, or 2 years of relevant experience.
