Bovine Embryologist / OPU Technician – Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve hands-on work with cattle at the farm, contributing to bovine embryo production. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Harvesting (aspirating and extracting) oocytes from cattle (OPU)
  • Setting up and maintaining equipment and tools for embryo manipulation
  • Coordinating synchronization schedules with clients and assisting in the implementation of synchronization protocols for recipients
  • Conducting non-surgical embryo insertions in cattle
  • Communicating transfer data and results with our laboratory and client farms
  • Executing non-surgical embryo transfers of bovine embryos to induce pregnancy

Your work environment will encompass both outdoor farm settings (including covered areas) and a mobile laboratory on-site.

Bovine Embryologist / OPU Technician – Qualifications (Required)

  • Experience in ovum pickup / embryo or oocyte harvesting (OPU) in livestock (cattle, sheep, horses)
  • Previous experience as a veterinary technician or in a veterinary laboratory
  • Capability to stand for extended periods, work outdoors, and directly handle cattle, including manipulation of the bovine reproductive system
  • Willingness to work on-site in Woodland, California

Bovine Embryologist / OPU Technician – Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Experience working with bovine species
  • Educational background in embryology research, andrology, and embryology techniques, including vitrification, warming, ICSI, biopsy, embryo grading, or DVM
  • Proficiency in Spanish


Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $95,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
