Job Summary:
The role of the Student Supervision Paraeducator is crucial in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students outside of the classroom. This position focuses on supervising students in various non-instructional settings, ensuring their well-being and adherence to school regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee student conduct in lunchrooms, hallways, and playgrounds; address and mediate conflicts as necessary while maintaining a respectful atmosphere.
Ensure compliance with established rules and guidelines in all school areas, guiding students towards appropriate behavior.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of lunch areas, including setting up tables and cleaning as needed.
Monitor the safe use of playground equipment, conducting regular checks for safety and reporting any maintenance needs.
Provide first aid assistance to students as required and coordinate with health staff for further treatment.
Verify that all adults present in supervised areas have checked in at the school office and report any concerns.
Build positive relationships with students and communicate effectively with teachers and administrators regarding student behavior.
Organize and lead recreational activities, teaching students the rules of games and promoting teamwork.
Encourage participation of all students in group activities, providing support to those who may feel isolated.
Assist in integrating students with special needs into group settings, providing one-on-one support as necessary.
Monitor restrooms during breaks to ensure student safety and proper conduct.
Additional Duties:
Conduct regular patrols of the playground to ensure safety and collect lost items.
Participate in district committees or teams as needed, demonstrating professional behavior and confidentiality.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the school.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the school principal or designated administrator.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will possess the necessary education and experience to effectively engage with school-aged children. Experience in a similar role is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of safety protocols, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage student behavior positively. Flexibility, organization, and the ability to foster cooperative relationships with students and staff are essential.
Licenses/Special Requirements:
