About the Role

The University of Washington Tacoma is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Counseling Services to lead its Psychological and Wellness Services (PAWS) team. As a key member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of PAWS, including administrative functions, clinical services, health promotion, and health education efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of licensed psychologists, health promotion specialists, and doctoral interns to provide high-quality mental health services to students.
  • Develop and implement a unit plan that meets the needs of the diverse student population and uses rigorous assessment to demonstrate outcomes and guide future planning.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to develop and implement wellness strategies that promote holistic student success.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to doctoral interns and advanced doctoral practicum students.
  • Consult with PAWS staff and serve as a primary decision maker in situations where the safety of a student is at risk.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Minimum of five years of professional clinical experience, including at least three years in a college or university counseling center.
  • Five years or more experience supervising professional staff and trainees.
  • Minimum three years of administrative experience in a clinical setting or a university student support services office.
  • Experience and strong commitment to serving an ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse population.
