Position Overview:

The Healthcare Access Specialist serves as a vital first point of contact for patients, embodying the highest standards of customer service and empathy. This role is essential in facilitating the patient's entry into our facilities, encompassing tasks such as scheduling appointments, registering patients, verifying benefits, obtaining pre-certifications, and ensuring financial clearance, including pre-visit collections.

The specialist is responsible for accurately gathering and entering patient information into our records. Attention to detail is paramount, as is maintaining up-to-date knowledge of insurance providers, Medicare regulations, and relevant federal and state guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1-3 years of clerical and customer service experience is preferred, with familiarity in medical terminology and insurance plans being advantageous.
  • Required Education: A high school diploma is mandatory.
  • Preferred Education: Some college education is beneficial.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent telephone etiquette.
    • Ability to foster positive relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
    • Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Proficient in various computer systems, including the use of a 10-key calculator and keyboard.
    • Physical demands include the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly, as well as prolonged standing and walking.
