Position: Employment Support Specialist

Role Summary:

VIA Visually Impaired Advancement is in search of per diem Employment Support Specialists to provide flexible assistance based on the needs of clients and staff availability.

Reporting to the Manager of Workforce Development, this role is primarily focused on delivering guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback to individuals who are blind or visually impaired within their training and work environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate, instruct, and support individuals at their respective job locations.
  • Deliver personalized training to help individuals master their job responsibilities.
  • Identify and articulate potential challenges that may hinder individual success.
  • Guide individuals in effectively integrating with colleagues and adapting to the workplace.
  • Assist in fostering communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Support the development of essential soft skills necessary for workplace success.
  • Maintain thorough and objective records of performance, set achievable short-term goals, track progress, and provide ongoing feedback in line with departmental standards.
  • Recognize achievements and pinpoint areas for improvement to enhance workplace success.
  • Engage in regular communication with VIA staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior successful work experience is essential.
  • Experience with individuals who are blind or visually impaired is preferred but not mandatory.
