Job Summary

As a Firefighter with the City of Pharr, you will play a critical role in responding to emergency situations, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors. Your responsibilities will include rescuing individuals from dangerous situations, utilizing manual and power tools, and operating fire apparatus such as pumpers and ambulances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency calls and rescue individuals from hazardous situations
  • Utilize manual and power tools to search for and rescue fire victims
  • Operate fire apparatus such as pumpers and ambulances
  • Engage in fire prevention practices by conducting inspections and developing pre-fire plans

Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old and not exceed 35 years at the time of hire
  • Hold a valid Class C driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Be certified as a Basic Structure Firefighter within six months of employment
  • Meet the physical demands of the job, including carrying a minimum of 75 lbs. for 50 feet and managing equipment weighing 50 lbs.
