Job Overview

The primary role of the Lead Art Handler/Installer is to oversee and facilitate the removal, collection, delivery, and installation of artworks, antiques, and personal belongings under the guidance of a direct supervisor. This position requires coordination and leadership during installation projects while managing on-site teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily collections and deliveries, both locally and across state lines as necessary.
  • Lead and coordinate installation projects, managing a team effectively.
  • Ensure the proper handling of delicate art pieces, fragile materials, antiques, and fine furniture.
  • Prepare and document condition checks and reports as required.
  • Pack artworks, antiquities, and fine furniture securely for transport and storage.
  • Maintain a meticulous approach to every task undertaken.
  • Provide training to junior drivers and art handlers as needed.
  • Manage all paperwork on-site, including condition reports for items handled.
  • Ensure that the vehicle used is always in a safe, clean, and ready condition for daily operations.
  • Report any modifications to the daily trip manifest to dispatch prior to implementation.
  • Complete manual time sheets when starting or ending the day at an alternate location, ensuring supervisor approval within 24 hours.
Supervisory Duties
  • Ensure that all crew members are in uniform during company hours.
  • Monitor adherence to authorized break times.
  • Report any crew members not fulfilling their responsibilities to Dispatch.
  • Train new staff as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of trucks, reporting any damages to the Dispatch Manager.
  • Check trucks every morning to confirm all necessary materials are loaded.
  • Efficiently manage crew schedules and job time management.
  • Ensure crew members complete their time sheets accurately.
  • Arrive at work punctually and gather daily instructions.
  • Exhibit proactive leadership and initiative as required.
General Requirements
  • Adhere to all HR policies and company procedures.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety regulations.
  • Act in the best interests of Cadogan Tate and its clients at all times.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the art handling sector, including packing and driving for local and interstate jobs.
  • Four years of experience in logistics, warehousing, and moving.
  • Strong understanding of inventory processes and the handling of art and antiques from collection to installation.
  • Proven ability to lead installations and manage a crew effectively.
  • Capability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently.
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in executing detailed paperwork and condition reporting.
  • A team player, comfortable in a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience with logistics equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and dollies.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and maneuver large objects safely.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, and reach as required.
