Position Overview

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is dedicated to supporting homeless and low-income individuals and families in Washington, DC. Our extensive range of programs aims to provide essential services that foster mental and physical well-being, promote sobriety, offer job training, and facilitate access to affordable housing.

Compensation Package: We provide a competitive salary and benefits that align with our mission and values. The salary for this role ranges from $53,705.00 to $63,107.00, depending on experience.

Role Summary: We are looking for a committed and skilled Manager, Janitorial Services to join our Property Management Team. This role is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring a dignified and comfortable environment for the residents we serve. Responsibilities include hands-on cleaning, performing minor maintenance tasks, and leading and training janitorial staff.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours per week)

Qualifications:

  • Some High School Education or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of janitorial experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Experience working with low-income populations, families, and seniors
  • CPR/First Aid and AED certification preferred

Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle with personal car liability insurance are required for this position.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to maintenance checklists to ensure facilities are safe and presentable
  • Regularly clean all common areas, including bathrooms, lounges, and kitchens
  • Maintain the building's exterior through consistent cleaning and grounds upkeep
  • Oversee daily trash collection and manage waste disposal
  • Coordinate quarterly deep cleaning efforts
  • Manage inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies
  • Provide training on cleaning techniques as necessary
  • Ensure snow and ice removal from walkways

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Associate Director of Property Management.
