Program Overview

The Baldwin Park Tiny Homes initiative is a non-congregate housing program designed to assist individuals facing homelessness. This facility comprises 25 units aimed at providing temporary housing solutions for those in need within the community.

Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Attendant is responsible for performing routine cleaning and minor repairs within the facility. This role includes reporting any maintenance or safety issues to management for prompt resolution. The attendant will ensure that the facility remains clean, safe, and sanitary, following the established cleaning schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the facility, including the building, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
  • Conduct daily cleaning tasks in assigned areas using appropriate cleaning supplies.
  • Restock restroom supplies as needed.
  • Perform dusting, window cleaning, waste disposal, and vacuuming in common areas.
  • Assist with minor repairs, which may include carpentry, plumbing, painting, and landscaping.
  • Follow daily checklists provided by the supervisor and ensure tools and supplies are organized and secured.
  • Inspect the facility for safety hazards and ensure compliance with local safety codes and regulations.
  • Prepare and set up rooms for meetings and events as required.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass a background check, including fingerprint clearance and verification of personal and professional references.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in cleaning high-traffic areas and restrooms or relevant building maintenance experience.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of safe handling procedures for cleaning chemicals and materials.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively in potentially stressful situations and manage interactions with challenging clients.
  • Capability to perform essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality in alignment with organizational standards.

Competencies:

  • Possession of a valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in custodial or maintenance roles within a shelter or educational environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English.
  • Background in construction trades is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with homelessness and related social issues is a plus.
