Program Description

The Baldwin Park Tiny Homes initiative is a unique non-congregate housing solution designed to support individuals facing homelessness. This program features 25 individual units tailored for those currently residing in proximity to the site.

Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing daily cleaning tasks and performing minor repairs throughout the facility. This role involves reporting any maintenance or safety issues to management for prompt resolution, ensuring the environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of both the interior and exterior of the facility, including the building, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
  • Conduct daily cleaning of designated areas utilizing appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Restock supplies in restrooms and common areas.
  • Perform routine tasks such as dusting, window washing, waste disposal, and vacuuming in high-traffic areas.
  • Assist with minor repairs, which may include carpentry, plumbing, painting, and landscaping.
  • Follow a daily checklist provided by the supervisor to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain the organization of storage areas for tools and supplies.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the facility, adhering to local safety codes and regulations, including OSHA and health department standards.
  • Prepare and arrange spaces for meetings and events as needed.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a fingerprint clearance and background check, including criminal history and employment verification.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in cleaning high-traffic environments or similar maintenance roles.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of safe handling procedures for cleaning chemicals and materials.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform effectively in potentially stressful situations, including interactions with challenging clients.
  • Capability to fulfill essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other relevant standards, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Commitment to maintaining consistent attendance in accordance with applicable standards.

Competencies:

  • Possession of a valid California driver's license with a clean driving record to meet insurance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in custodial or maintenance roles within shelters or educational institutions is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English is advantageous.
  • Background in construction trades is a plus.
  • Familiarity with homelessness and related challenges is beneficial.
