Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Specialist II to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As an Administrative Specialist II, you will provide administrative support to our department, ensuring the smooth operation of our daily activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to department staff, including filing, typing, and data entry
  • Process procurement purchases and maintain accurate records
  • Record and type minutes for monthly and weekly meetings
  • Answer phone calls, greet visitors, and distribute incoming mail
  • Assist the public and other customers with work requests and department-related matters
  • Use Microsoft Office and other department software and systems as needed
  • Enter work requests, update material costs, and maintain stockpile inventory
  • Ensure the filing system is current and compliant with file retention policies
  • Act as a timekeeper, entering information into online systems and maintaining leave records
  • Assist in ordering, compiling, and maintaining records of property, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist with processing personnel transactions, including new hires and personnel records
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or approved acceptable equivalence
  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods and work on a computer
  • May be required to lift up to 30 lbs
  • May be required to work outside normal business hours
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in administrative support or a related field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other department software and systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
