Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary

This position is responsible for processing and paying supplier invoices, tax payments, employee travel reimbursements, and other obligations of the City of Amarillo in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounts payable procedures and be able to provide training to City staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and process all invoices received, ensuring timely payment to suppliers
• Coordinate with departments to ensure accurate and efficient processing of purchase orders and payments
• Provide training to new employees and employees needing additional assistance with the Accounts Payable system and processes
• Verify and resolve payment issues for suppliers and City employees
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of Accounts Payable experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to operate standard office equipment and use a computer for data entry and word processing.
