Job Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and skilled Accounting Specialist to become a vital part of our finance department. This position focuses on managing the accounting operations, particularly emphasizing the oversight of the Accounts Payable (AP) function.


Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Oversight:
  • Supervise the complete AP cycle, which includes invoice validation, coding, and payment execution.
  • Guarantee prompt and precise payment of vendor invoices and expense claims.
  • Track and manage AP aging reports, addressing discrepancies swiftly.
  • Improve operational efficiency and internal controls.

General Accounting Functions:
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Execute month-end and year-end closing activities, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Handle intercompany accounting processes.
  • Perform weekly ACH and wire transactions for various entities.
  • Record journal entries in the accounting system and review entries prepared by others.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting.
  • Oversee banking relationships.
  • Prepare and file monthly and quarterly state taxes.
  • Possess some knowledge of payroll processing, reporting, and tax obligations.
  • Manage vendor relationships.

Financial Reporting and Insights:
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Generate and interpret financial reports to offer insights and recommendations to senior management.

Team Development:
  • Support the maintenance of accounting systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations and resolve any AP-related challenges.
  • Guide and mentor junior accounting personnel, offering training and support as required.
  • Provide backup for colleagues and assist with special projects as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or 5+ years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, with proven knowledge of debits, credits, and the journal entry process.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with accounting systems.
  • Familiarity with AP automation tools and processes.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

Compensation:
Competitive salary range: $68,000 - $80,000
