Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clerical services, including typing, filing, and account maintenance, to support the school's administrative staff.
  • Assist the principal in the preparation and routing of reports, memos, and other documents.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, payroll, and student records.
  • Receive, store, and issue supplies and equipment.
  • Sort, distribute, and/or deliver mail and other documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or senior director.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Texas Education Agency (TEA) paraprofessional certification.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.
  • Proficient skills in typing, word processing, filing, and account maintenance.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate and trouble-shoot computers and other office equipment.
  • Ability to use the English language proficiently.
  • Ability to use basic mathematical operations.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work within a specified behavior management system.
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialized therapeutic restraint techniques to control student behavior, when appropriate.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of PowerSchool student information system preferred.
  • Knowledge of Excel or access spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally as well as written expression.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years secretarial experience in a public education environment.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position working in a school setting. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
