Job Summary:

The Medical Registrar will accurately register, discharge, and admit patients treated in the Emergency Department. This role requires excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as proficiency with computers and hospital mainframe systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately record patient information, including demographic and insurance details
  • Verify patient information in a timely manner and maintain control logs
  • Collect patient co-insurance, deductible, and copays, as well as other payments related to their visit or hospital stay
  • Notify admissions and death notifications via fax or electronically
  • Obtain signatures and consents from patients, either face-to-face or during bedside registration
  • Complete all necessary forms to complete the registration process

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with computers, including MS Office 2007 and hospital mainframe systems
  • Knowledge and experience with insurance verification and registration, preferably in a medical setting
  • Previous experience working in the medical field is preferred
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of hospital mainframe/EMR systems are preferred
  • Experience with web-based insurance verification systems is required
  • Point of service/cash collection experience is preferred
  • Experience with high patient volume and diversified patient populations is preferred
  • Demonstrates professionalism in dealing with patients, family members, and co-workers alike
  • Typing speed of at least 40 wpm is required

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required; some college courses are preferred
  • Computer proficiency is required

Computer/Equipment Skills:

  • Hospital mainframe systems/insurance verification programs (web-based included) are preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency with MS programs (Word & Excel 2007) are required
  • Web-based insurance verification experience is a must

Salary Range: $23.288/Hr - $24.558/Hr
