Job Overview

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to effectively address the County's demand for affordable housing solutions. HOC is empowered to acquire, manage, lease, and operate housing; facilitate the construction or renovation of housing; secure financial support from various public or private entities to bolster its housing initiatives; and coordinate social services, resident assistance, and childcare services.

Position Summary:

HOC is currently looking for a Temporary Case Manager who will deliver Case Management Services and Coaching to fathers engaged in the Fatherhood Initiative Program. The Case Manager will offer resources and referrals, guiding fathers through the various stages of the Fatherhood Initiative Program. The temporary Case Managers will oversee an average caseload of 40 participants each month.

Essential Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the target demographic (individuals experiencing homelessness and those with disabilities, including mental health issues, substance use disorders, medical conditions, and cognitive impairments is preferred).
  • Experience in crisis intervention is essential.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and the Housing First approach.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team, engaging with other HOC divisions and community partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
