Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and design automated manufacturing systems specifically for high-performance thermoplastics.
  • Lead initiatives in research and development for advanced automation methodologies.
  • Oversee capital equipment projects, including project justification, equipment selection, requisition, and implementation.
  • Incorporate technology and custom automation solutions into existing or new processes to improve safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and throughput.
  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems and equipment.
  • Effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders to address technical requirements and ensure project follow-through.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team throughout the product lifecycle, from research and development to production support.
  • Assist in product qualification processes and facilitate transitions to high-rate manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Design and execute experiments to resolve design challenges and troubleshoot complex system issues.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and technicians, along with other assigned tasks as necessary.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful applicant will possess:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • A background in Robotics or Mechanical Engineering is preferred, though other engineering disciplines will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing automation and knowledge of materials and equipment used in plastic part fabrication.
  • Understanding of machine design, basic electrical design, and common manufacturing practices.
  • Familiarity with plastic part fabrication techniques, including forming and sealing methods; experience with thermoforming is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in engineering systems, analytical methods, and business tools.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
  • Capability to specify automation hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of control system design, PLC and HMI programming, and robotics.
  • Understanding of drawing standards, including geometric tolerancing.
