Position Summary:
Definition:
Under general supervision, this role involves performing technical financial and accounting tasks associated with the evaluation, processing, preparation, maintenance, and verification of financial, accounting, and statistical records. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining detailed financial reports and statements, as well as executing related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct technical financial and accounting operations, including assembling, tabulating, calculating, verifying, and filing fiscal-related data.
  • Manage a variety of technical fiscal record operations related to specialized accounts such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budget control.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting and budget control record management systems.
  • Prepare trial balances and financial statements while ensuring accuracy in all accounting records.
  • Provide technical information regarding legal mandates, policies, and operational guidelines to District personnel.
  • Perform audits and process reimbursement requests related to travel and training, ensuring compliance with District policies.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Knowledge and skills required include:
  • Principles and practices of technical accounting.
  • Methods for managing accounts receivable.
  • Financial record keeping and reporting procedures.
  • Cash handling techniques.
  • Mathematical principles and applications.
  • Modern accounting software applications.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Typical backgrounds include:
  • Two years of experience equivalent to an Accounting Assistant at the District.
  • Possession of an associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with two years of relevant clerical work experience.

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily conducted in a standard office environment. The role may require sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 10 pounds.
