Job SummaryThe Director of Accounting will be responsible for leading our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our accounting records, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our business objectives. This role requires a strong technical accounting background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive process improvements and innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the month, quarter, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
- Review and analyze inventory-related entries to provide accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
- Attend senior management meetings to provide financial insights and support key decisions.
- Partner with the Merchandising and Finance team to identify opportunities to optimize store performance.
- Maintain a system of internal controls to ensure the accuracy of physical inventories and explain variances.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, including inventory and distribution center accounts.
- Oversee the reporting process to publish timely financial statements and analysis for management and the board of directors.
- Drive external audit activities related to the areas of responsibility.
- Research and analyze technical accounting issues, including the preparation of memorandums on the company's position.
- Analyze process automation to reduce costs and increase effectiveness.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, and ongoing variance analysis.
- Partner with peers and business partners to drive change management, lead process improvement, and alignment within the finance group and cross-functionally.
- Build an effective and efficient team by evaluating, staffing, and developing team capabilities and competencies.
- CPA certification required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in public and private accounting, with demonstrated success at increasing levels of responsibility in analytical roles.
- 7 years of management, supervisory, and/or leadership experience.
- 4 years of audit/assurance experience from a Big 4 public accounting firm.
Office environment with some travel required.
