Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative/Unit Secretary to join our team at WellStreet Urgent Care. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our physicians and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Front Desk Operations: Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring a positive first impression of our facility.
  • Insurance and Billing: Analyze health insurance benefits, verify eligibility, and relay relevant information regarding payment policies and billing/collection processes.
  • Clerical Tasks: Maintain the readiness of the reception area, perform administrative duties, and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Financial Transactions: Determine and collect each patient's financial responsibility, assist with payment processing, and maintain accurate records.
  • Support Services: Provide overall support for physicians and office operations, including obtaining and documenting patient history, understanding and enforcing standard healthcare regulatory requirements, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Electronic Medical Records: Document all medical interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance, participate in department quality improvement activities, and maintain clinical competency in the delivery of patient care services.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: One year of experience in a medical office or emergency room setting preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to work 8am to 8pm, 3 days a week, rotating weekends and holidays; experience with insurance eligibility and co-pay determination; and strong communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work Environment: Required to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical Demands: Required to sit, walk, reach with hands and arms throughout the workday; finger dexterity and hand coordination required; occasionally required to lift moderate weight.
