Job Summary

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Associate to join our team. As a Patient Services Associate, you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth clinic, patient, and billing flow by greeting and directing patients to their various appointments, preparing the daily clinic schedule, and updating the physicians' schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle high-volume incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Review patient charts and insurance referrals/authorizations to ensure proper reimbursement.
  • Assist physicians and administrators with business and patient care responsibilities.
  • Coordinate office communication flow and ensure effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information, and ensure accurate billing.
  • Answer telephones using correct telephone etiquette and record legible and complete messages.
  • Review patient intake information to verify insurance coverage and verify patient insurance information.
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments, including patient testing.
  • Act in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner, recognizing individual religious, ethical, and moral opinions and beliefs.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other payments, and reconcile patient payments on a daily basis.
  • Prepare billing sheets and review all billings sheets to ensure they contain necessary information.
  • Direct billing inquiries to the appropriate Regional Office.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure the clinical staff submits all outpatient billing sheets daily.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years recent experience in a related position in a medical office preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize job duties and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks at one time.
  • Superior customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer knowledge; experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, obstetrical and/or perinatal coding, office billing forms, insurance, and government payer regulations preferred.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail capabilities.
