Float Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Float Nurse who thrives in a dynamic hospital environment.

In this role, you will deliver exceptional nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating care tailored to various age groups, while embracing family-centered approaches and cost-effective practices.

Your ability to gather and interpret data from medical records will be essential in coordinating comprehensive patient care.

Ideal Candidate: Experience in ICU or Acute care is preferred, with pediatric experience being an advantage.

Position Details: FULL TIME NIGHTS

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and document thorough assessments of patients and families, addressing biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs systematically.
  • Evaluate situations, foresee potential issues, and identify changes in patient conditions.
  • Adjust and update care plans based on new insights and patient status changes, ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team and accurate documentation.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care discussions, documenting findings appropriately.
  • Support patients and families in executing their roles within the care plan as needed.
  • Assess learning needs and readiness of patients and families prior to educational interventions.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, visitors, peers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Administer and record medications and treatments promptly.
  • Show eagerness to acquire new knowledge and skills to enhance individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving unit performance.
Qualifications:

All employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any recommended booster doses, unless a medical or religious exemption is approved.

  • A Bachelor's degree in nursing, an associate's degree, or a technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program is required. Alternatively, an associate's degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for RN licensure is acceptable, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program working towards an MSN with verified BSN equivalency.
  • A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required.
  • RN License issued by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse License Compact.
  • CPR certification - Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective time and resource management, flexibility, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of unit-specific equipment and the nursing process, critical thinking abilities, PALS, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
