Position Summary:

We believe that participation in sports not only benefits student-athletes physically and emotionally but also equips them with essential life skills such as teamwork, resilience, leadership, and determination. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support all aspects of team performance, including pre-season and post-season training, practice sessions, and competitions.
  • Develop and implement instructional strategies for student-athletes in designated areas.
  • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, providing encouragement and support as needed.
  • Assist with daily operations, including video analysis, travel arrangements, equipment management, and budget oversight.
  • Help identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes.
  • Contribute to fundraising initiatives to support the annual budget.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Promote the program through various channels, including community engagement and outreach activities.
  • Maintain CPR/AED certification.
  • Assist with playoff events if hosting.
  • Possess 2-4 years of coaching experience in basketball at the high school level, with head coaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Have a strong understanding of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of basketball.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Google applications.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level is advantageous.
  • The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership, motivational, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation:

This is a part-time position with a compensation rate of $25 per hour.
