Key Responsibilities:


The Laboratory Support Specialist - Non-certified adheres to established protocols to prepare clinical samples (such as blood, bodily fluids, tissues, and sputum) for microbiological examination by the Medical Technologist to identify infectious agents.

Minimum compensation for this position is: $23.14/hour.

Qualifications:


This role necessitates an Associate's Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or two years of relevant post-secondary education or experience in laboratory science.

Proficiency in laboratory instruments (including biological safety cabinets, centrifuges, cytocentrifuges, and autoclaves), along with maintenance and troubleshooting skills, is essential. Familiarity with specimen collection and handling protocols for microbiological testing is required. Competence in computer systems such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications is expected.

Candidates should possess the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, work efficiently with a high level of precision, operate independently, and adapt to varying workloads. Strong computer literacy, excellent communication abilities, and interpersonal skills are vital.

Physical requirements include the capacity to perform tasks that involve frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred qualifications include at least one year of experience in a clinical laboratory environment and/or one year of experience in a Clinical Microbiology laboratory.
