Job Summary

The Clinical Immunogenetics Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Clinical Immunogenetics Laboratory at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. This includes managing staff, ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and standards, and maintaining the quality and accuracy of laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage laboratory staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, procedures, and standards, including ASHI standards.
  • Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Director and Manager to develop and implement strategic plans for the laboratory.
  • Oversee the introduction of new technologies and equipment into the laboratory.
  • Manage the laboratory's budget and resources, including personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • Represent the Clinical Immunogenetics Laboratory in leadership meetings and collaborate with other departments to achieve laboratory goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical or research laboratory experience performing histocompatibility testing.
  • Clinical Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) or Clinical Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) certification.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, including personnel management, budgeting, and quality control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with laboratory staff, management, and other departments.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) certification.
  • ASHI Inspector training or certification.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Experience supervising others.
