Job Summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at the East Campus. As a Magnet designated organization, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and service. This full-time position will support various levels of nursing care staff, including critical care, and provide department and organization education, consultation, and leadership to advance evidence-based practice and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, implement, and evaluate department/unit-based and organizational learning activities
  • Collaborate with managers, staff, nursing leadership, and inter-professional teams to ensure innovative, evidence-based, and cost-effective solutions
  • Provide leadership in planned change while working within the spheres of patient, nurse, and organization
  • Develop and implement educational programs and materials for nursing staff
  • Conduct competency development and validation, and quality improvement or evidence-based practice change projects
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) license issued by the state of California
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date
  • Five (5+) or more years of relevant ICU RN experience
  • Recent experience in developing educational programs and materials
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant educator experience
  • Current specialty certification; must obtain within one year of hire
  • Experience in a teaching hospital
  • Experience working in a Magnet Hospital
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical
Compensation

Annual Full Pay Range: $112,100 - $216,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $53.69 - $103.69
