Senior Financial Reporting Specialist

This role is essential to the Company's SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of SEC and US GAAP standards, financial reporting, and associated disclosure mandates. The individual will frequently collaborate with key stakeholders in corporate accounting, finance, legal, human resources, and external audit teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in all phases of quarterly and annual SEC submissions, which includes overseeing the drafting of business descriptions, MD&A sections, footnote disclosures, and other necessary reports; compiling work papers and ensuring accuracy; integrating feedback from colleagues and liaising with business leaders for precise filings; completing GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned, gaining exposure to intricate transactions such as debt restructurings, acquisitions, and revenue recognition challenges.
- Deliver critical analysis and audit support, addressing requests promptly and accurately.
- Conduct independent research on accounting issues and communicate findings verbally and/or through written reports to relevant parties within the Company.
- Interpret matters related to disclosures and incorporate new GAAP/SEC reporting requirements into Company submissions.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement through process enhancements, control improvements, automation tools, and generative AI.
- Benchmark current and new Company disclosures against those of other registrants.
- Assist in preparing financial information for quarterly Investor Relations materials (8-K, scripts, investor presentations, etc.).
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 150 credit hours completed.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think critically.
• Highly detail-oriented and organized.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficient in building and leveraging professional relationships.
Travel Requirements:
Candidates in the Boston area may be required to travel to the corporate office quarterly.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in SEC Reporting.
• Solid understanding of SEC regulations.
• Background in Big 4 or public company settings.
• Active CPA license.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Alteryx or UiPath, PeopleSoft GL, Hyperion Financial Management, and/or Workiva software.
The base salary range indicates the expected low and high end of the pay scale for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency in the role. Base salary is one component of WEX's overall compensation package, which may include commissions for sales roles or bonuses for non-sales positions based on applicable plans. Salary Range: $75,000 - $99,000.
