About the Position

The University of Vermont College of Education and Social Services invites applications for the position of Department Chair of Social Work. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a vibrant faculty and contribute to the growth and development of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the department
  • Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives
  • Oversee the management of departmental resources and budget
  • Ensure the quality and effectiveness of departmental programs and services
  • Collaborate with the College leadership team to advance the College's strategic plans
Qualifications
  • PhD in Social Work or a closely related field
  • Progressive leadership experience in higher education
  • Evidence of commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Evidence of knowledge and commitment to principles of transformative social work
  • Consistent record of publication and extramural funding
  • Experience with accreditation processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Scholarly record commensurate with the rank of Full Professor
  • Significant funding for scholarship or training
  • Noteworthy experience or evidence of collaborative leadership
  • Evidence of research, teaching, and service in transformative social work
