The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the procurement of materials, services, and supplies. This role involves engaging with suppliers, securing competitive bids, and collaborating with department heads to review quotes prior to order placement. The specialist expedites a wide range of orders from suppliers to fulfill production requirements efficiently. Responsibilities include purchasing complex materials, equipment, and services at optimal costs, ensuring timely delivery as specified in purchase requisitions. The role also involves locating and assessing suppliers, forecasting procurement trends, negotiating contracts, and managing daily purchase order processes for the assigned category.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, purchase, and maintain specified commodities from suppliers.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with operational performance requirements across a budget of 10 million.
  • Oversee supplier scheduling in accordance with the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and maintain accurate supplier and procured parts data within the MRP system to minimize shortages and eliminate excess inventory.
  • Manage daily updates of supplier promise dates to ensure the most current and accurate information is reflected in supplier schedules.
  • Oversee supplier performance to ensure they meet committed orders, identify supply risks, constraints, and bottlenecks, and implement cost reduction strategies to meet company objectives.
  • Conduct external capacity reviews in alignment with MPS.
  • Drive ongoing supplier performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and daily communication.
  • Facilitate multi-functional team reviews with key suppliers.
  • Engage in daily communication with internal customers and receiving departments.
  • Ensure adherence to standard procurement processes and daily management tasks.
  • Manage the supplier scorecard process to communicate supplier performance effectively.
  • Support Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) on supplier non-conformance issues and manage supplier returns and claims.
  • Accurate data entry in SAP is essential. Respond to requisitions and departmental inquiries regarding delivery or changes.
  • Address and report critical supply chain challenges.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commodity and contract negotiations, including raw materials, electrical components, MRO, and services.
  • Proficient in Excel and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and apply analytical thinking.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Experience managing invoice discrepancies and Return to Vendor issues.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems.
