Position Overview
The role of a Forensic Structural Engineer involves conducting thorough investigations in various environments, including field sites, laboratories, and office settings, to identify the underlying causes of structural failures, particularly those affecting the building's framework and exterior. This position emphasizes a practical approach to engineering, necessitating fieldwork, laboratory testing, and office analysis. The engineer will be expected to engage in continuous learning, perform technical research, and prepare detailed engineering reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on failure analysis in diverse settings, including field investigations and testing facilities.
- Document findings and compile comprehensive reports on investigations.
- Conduct in-depth technical research to support analysis.
- Apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios effectively.
- Meet project deadlines as specified by clients.
- Uphold ethical standards in all practices.
- Communicate complex technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences through effective report writing.
Essential Skills
- Self-motivated with a strong drive for problem-solving.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory or project management experience.
Additional Requirements
- Must hold a valid Professional Engineer license.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check as required for the role.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position requiring availability during standard business hours. Flexibility in scheduling may be accommodated.
Physical Requirements
The role involves a combination of fieldwork, travel, and office-based tasks. Employees must be capable of performing various physical activities, including driving, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Additionally, candidates should be prepared to navigate uneven terrain and work in varying weather conditions.
Travel Expectations
Regular travel is an integral part of this position, with occasional overnight trips required.
